According to the National Retail Federation, folks are spending a lot of eggs this Easter . The Federation estimates Americans spent about $16.8 billion on Easter items like Peeps, chocolates, and Easter baskets. And that was reflected at a local Walmart, where store shelves were virtually empty.
The Nation Retail Federation says spending is up 11-percent from last year with an average of $145 spent per shopper. And of the total amount spent, about 90 percent of the money is reportedly going toward sweets to fill Easter baskets.
