Archer ISD School Board voted and will allow approved personnel to carry firearms.
The school board met Monday evening, to decide if they'll allow employees to carry hand guns.
Archer City ISD recently beefed up security in school by adding more cameras to campuses and dead bolts to all classroom doors.
But many parents students and teachers say they want more.
The school board is talked about the option of employees being able to carry hand guns on school premises and at school related events.
During the meeting the board offered parents the opportunity to voice their concerns on the issue.
And while many parents agree Archer ISD does need to enhance security around its campuses they had mixed feelings on the issue of employees carrying concealed fire arms.
Assistant Superintendent C.D. Knobloch "I think its very difficult and if we make the decision to arm personnel, Its going to be a burden on whoever but it may be what is safest for our children.
Parent, Leslie Hash says, "We want to sit here and say it will never happen in Archer City, But Sandy Hook and Columbine probably said that, anybody else who had had that situation has probably said that. So Archer City is not immune it any number of these kids these community members that can snap at anytime So we all need to be aware of what's going on and work together".
Archer now archer joins two other Texoma school districts Harrold and Quanah I-S-D's that currently allow qualified employees to carry firearms at work.
