Thousands of donations to area day care centers are getting little ones ready to learn.

Day care owners combed through more than 3,000 children's books at the Wichita Falls Public Library.

Employees and customers at more than 40 area businesses collected them during the United Way's City-Wide Book Drive.

It was designed to help day care centers replenish their constantly dwindling supply of books for kids.

And recipients were ecstatic.

"It means a lot cause the books are free and it helps the kids. Things that you don't have to purchase on your own. There's so much to purchase with a day care and books are important and they have reading time. It helps them to learn and grow and they love it," says Deanna Flick, owner of Little People's Day Care.

The books will go to more than 130 child care centers and homes in Wichita County.

The book drive was such a big success, the United Way plans to make it annual drive.
