This is 19-year old Amy Specialist Keaton Veitenheimer... and this is him Sunday afternoon.
He is a Windthorst native who will soon make his way halfway around the world to fight for this country.
"We're very proud of him. He's come a long way so, we just want to get him home safely," says Laurie Zotz, Keaton's mother.
Specialist Veitenheimer will soon deploy to Afghanistan.
So, family and friends gathered at a Windthorst business to see him off, but that's all.
Members of the Patriot Guard Riders were also here... in full force!
"No one has to say who were those guys. All you have to do is look at the flags. Look at the vests. These vests represent missions. They represent our thought patterns. They represent support and love for our country and that's why we're here," explains Vietnam Veteran and Patriot Guard Rider Paul Miller, Jr.
Specialist Veitenheimer enlisted in the army in May 2010.
So, before he heads out on his first deployment overseas there are hugs and tears, as well as words of wisdom and encouragement.
Then, everyone loads up and heads out with a fire truck and Patriot Guard Riders leading the way to show the love and support they all have for this young soldier.
Specialist Veitenheimer will first train for two weeks in Seattle, Washington before deploying to Afghanistan by the end of the month.
And Patriot Guard Riders plan to escort him back home when he returns in December.
