That's because Atmos energy is working to replace all steel service lines throughout North and Central Texas, to improve safety and reliability.
Atmos spokesman Randy West says the rigid steel pipe service lines are being replaced with flexible and durable pipe.
He says about four thousand service lines have been replaced since last year, and four thousand more will be finished this year.
Eventually, West says, Atmos wants to ensure that all approximately 25- thousand lines in Wichita Falls have been replaced.
"They can expect to have their service disrupted, you know once we replace the service line, we will put the - we will come back and light their appliances back up for them. And obviously put the dirt back into the yard, & if there was any concrete or anything we've had to move beyond the service line, we have dedicated contractors coming in behind our crews to replace that."
You may have noticed a surcharge on your bills -- and that money goes toward the replacement project.
