Before Wichita Falls city councilors met in executive session today they said goodbye to Dorothy Roberts-Burns.
Burns was honored by Mayor Glen Barham and was presented a gift by members of the Wichita Falls Fire Fighters Association.
Burns worked in different departments with the city of Wichita Falls for 40 years before running for city council where she served for 8 years.
"My time ran out. Then I decided to run for At Large and then my body said, Dorothy it's time to stop and do something else," Roberts-Burns says.
Burns is planning to slow down a little while working to become the city's number one volunteer.
She will continue coordinating the annual Martin Luther King Junior Prayer Breakfast, which is held each February.
