A young girl who was being bullied at school and online took her own life back in April and now riders plan to hit the road tomorrow to help her family and to raise awareness about the torture some kids face daily.
Bikers Against Bullying are hosting a motorcyle run in loving memory of Ashley Molina on Saturday, May 31st.
Registration begins at 9am at Texas Nite Life at 1619 Archer City Highway.
The 100-mile ride is $15 for a single rider or $20 doubles.
All of the money raised will help Ashley's family with funeral expenses.
There will be food at the end of the run at Texas Nite Life.
At the fundraiser Ashley's tragic story will also be shared.
She was just 13-years-old and was in school in Grand Prairie when she committed suicide.
Ashley's mother, Mandy Fenoglio, is a Texoma native.
Here is what she had to say about her daughter, "My daughter Ashley Molina hid her problems well. We were best friends and I was the best mom to her I could be. I have her journal . She did not become suicidal until 4 days before her death. Those 4 days she was harassed at school as well through cyber networks. I have beat myself up for a month and 3 weeks now trying to figure out what, as her mom , that I missed. Her story will be told at her benefit. A big thank you from myself and her brother and sister. The support gives us hope to make it through this tough time in our lives."
She also shared this when it comes to suspecting bullying, "My goal is to spread the word that when someone comes to you and tells you that they are going to commit suicide that you react and you do something about it. That you tell someone. Some kids say they don't want to tell because they will lsoe that friendship, but I say it is better to lose that friendship than to lose the life of your friend."
