(Wichita Falls, TX) - Sears will be closing its Wichita Falls store, located in Sikes Senter Mall before the end of the year. A corporate spokesperson confirmed Friday the store and the auto center will close by mid-December.
The store will begin a liquidation sale on October 9.
The Wichita Falls store employs 56 people and Sears says those who are eligible for severance will be offered a package. Eligible employees will also have the opportunity to apply for open positions at other Sears and Kmart stores.
Last December, Sears announced it would increase the number of stores it would close from 130 to 235 after losses continued to mount.
Sears closed its downtown Wichita Falls store in the early 90's.
