Car Burglaries Up in July

Wichita Falls Police are reminding residents to protect their valuables inside their cars, after seeing the number of vehicle burglaries rise last month after several months of decline.

In 45 percent of cases, police say there was no forced entry because the vehicles were left unlocked. Officers ask you to lock your car doors any time you leave it unattended, take your keys out of the vehicle and take  or  keep  valuable items out of sight.

Overall car burglaries are down slightly for the year. Through this time last year there were 611 break ins. This year 539 have been reported to police.
