The death of her young daughter has a Wichita Falls mother asking that you give the gift of life.
Twenty-three month old Peyton Hood died nearly two years ago from a rattlesnake bite.
While blood did not save her life, her mother says it did prolong it so relatives could make it to her bedside to say their final goodbyes.
Now, a benefit blood drive is planned this weekend in Peyton's honor.
Her mother says blood is a gift everyone should give.
"We can't make blood. So, if we don't all give some blood there will not be enough and I never though it was gonna happen to me or my family but it did. And, I assure you it can happen to anybody and it can happen in the blink of an eye," says Kammy Hood, Peyton's mother.
The Peyton Hood Celebration Blood Drive is Saturday, July 28th from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. at River Bend Nature Center, which is at 2200 3rd Street, off Seymour Highway.
