Well hopefully by now you've realized to change your clocks and spring forward an hour. And with this time change the fire department says it's a perfect reminder to change out the batteries in your smoke alarms. The fire department says the early warning these devices provide can mean the difference between life and death when a blaze breaks out in your home.
"Smoke is what gets most people. It's what puts them down in a fire first and if your smoke detector goes off and you can wake up in time and get out of the house then it means all the difference in the world," said WFFD Battalion Chief Mike Davis.
Davis says even if those detectors aren't chirping and waking you up in the middle of the night. It's still a good idea to change out the batteries, because new batteries cost less than a new home.
