A recall has been issued for thousands of Peg Perego strollers because children can become trapped and strangled between the trays on them.

About 223-thousand Venezia and Pliko-P3 stroller models are under the recall.  They were made between January 2004 and September 2007.

The company reports a six-month-old died of strangulation in one of the strollers in 2004, and a seven-month-old was nearly strangled in 2006.

Only strollers with a child tray and one cup holder are part of the recall.  The recall does not include the strollers with two cup holders.  But company officials are urging owners to stop using the strollers immediately.
