DPS Investigate Fatal Motorcycle Accident

The Wichita County Sheriff's office is mourning one of its own after a man the Sheriff says was a friend to everyone was killed in a motorcycle accident this afternoon.

DPS troopers are investigating the accident that killed 48-year-old James Davis-- who was known to most as "Whit."
The accident happened on River Road near FM 1740, when troopers say Davis failed to maneuver a curve in the road and they do say speed was a factor.

Sgt. Dan Buesing says Davis was thrown from his Harley and was not wearing a helmet.
He was pronounced dead shortly after being transported to United Regional by ambulance.

Sheriff David Duke says Davis worked for the Sheriff's office part time--as a jailer and was a very dedicated employee.
Davis also worked at the James v. Allred Unit.
