Some Wichita County health officials have offered flu shots for the past few weeks.
But now the county health department will soon offer them with an added shot of protection.
Several hundred doses of flu vaccine will be given out in two weeks during the annual Flu Shot Clinic.
However, this year they will also offer protection against whooping cough.
"Nationwide, there's been quite an increase in pertussis in the population. That's why we thought this would be a good opportunity to encourage adults who may not have had pertussis protection in their vaccines since they were probably in high school," says Kay Sabine, immunization charge nurse with the Wichita County Health Department.
The health department's Flu Shot Clinic is Saturday, October 6th from 8 a.m. to 12 p.m. at the Scotland Park Elementary School gym, at 1415 North 5th Street.
For information on shot costs just call the Wichita County Health Department weekdays from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. at (940) 761-7841.
