Former Teacher Sentenced in Wichita County 78th District Court

A former teacher who worked at several local schools was sentenced today in 78th District Court for tampering with governmental school records.

Thirty-six year old Michael Christian was sentenced to four years in prison.

At the time of Christian's arrest back in March, he was working at Bright Ideas Charter School.

Police originally charged him with with engaging in organized criminal activity involving theft.

According to investigators he made up a fake school and scammed five out-of-state companies out of nearly $23,000 in band merchandise.

Officials say the ordered items were shipped to Christian's home in Wichita Falls but he never paid the bills.
