The Fuller Estates subdivision was a dream come true for Habitat for Humanity of Wichita Falls.
Crews started building the first homes here in April 2006 and now, nearly six years later, Habitat officials are preparing to celebrate several milestones.
Habitat for Humanity has hammered out quite a name for itself in Wichita Falls and Habitat homeowners, like Sheryl Beamon, are grateful .
After nearly 40 years of renting Beamon moved into her own home earlier this month.
And she says it's an investment that's actually saving her money.
"I was paying $644 before we moved here and it went down to $293," say homeowner Sheryl Beamon.
Helping renters become homeowners is what Habitat is all about.
And that has the organization preparing to celebrate three milestones this year.
"We're about to lay the slab for our 100th house and that's a very exciting time for us. We're working on our 99th right now and then our second milestone is we're coming up on our 20th anniversary," says Habitat of Humanity of Wichita Falls Marketing Director Lauren Correll.
"This house on 8th Street is Habitat for Humanity's first project in Wichita Falls, which was back in 1992. However, over the years, Habitat has modified its process of making renters become homeowners.
While Habitat recipients now live in new homes before existing homes were purchased and remodeled.
"We were able to only do one house a year and things just did not run so smoothly, where now, we've got it down to an art and we're busting out eight or nine houses a year," says Correll.
Now, Beamon and other homeowners can put on a splash of color without being hassled by a landlord because where they live is truly home sweet home.
There is a third milestone Habitat plans to celebrate this year.
Once the 100th house is built officials will then announce the location of its second subdivision so they can continue turning dreams into realities.
