Hazardous Material That Evacuated Downtown Electra Identified

We now know what prompted an evacuation yesterday in Downtown Electra that forced several streets to be shut down.

Wichita Falls Fire Chief Earl Foster says the material has been identified as aluminum phosphate, a chemical typically used to kill rats in grain elevators.  He says it is highly reactive when it comes into contact with water.

A trash truck carrying what was described as hazardous materials caught fire near downtown.  Wichita Falls Hazmat crews were called in to help clean up the toxic trash.

Chief Foster believes the material originated in Randlett, but is unsure how it got into the dump truck.
