Hardeman, Clay, Lavaca, Callahan, and Goliad were award the winners of this year's hog out grants. Hardeman will receive a $20,000 grant to continue to fund the feral hog abatement. And all 5 counties will split a $60,000 grant to continue to fund the removal of the invasive animal. Monday morning the grant was awarded in Clay County Commissioners Court.
"We are just really excited right now we're hoping this money can go towards helping this problem down to where it's not a big issue any more," said Val McClain, State Registered Hog Buyer.
McClain estimates between one and two thousand hogs were captured in Clay County during a 3 month time period last year.
