Which is the greater number 5.63 times 10 to the 3rd power, or 6.20 times 10 cubed?
If you know, you might do well in the state number sense competiton and you might make the Kirby team.
Students packed up their calculators and pencils and headed to the state competition in San Antonio, and for the trip back, they packed up a bunch of medals, including the one for state champ.
The  Kirby Number Sense Team consisting of four students placed fourth in the state out of 45 teams.
In addition to the team placing several students also took home individual titles.
Kirthi Malireddy placed 6th in the number sense portion of the competition and Nathan Kong placed 7th.
7th grader Sandra Kong brought home the state first place trophy.

"Since i was young i've been doing math a lot but i had a math coach, he's helped us practice with the mental tricks in my head to help us solve the problems really quickly, said 7th grade state champ Sandra Kong".

This is Sandra's second state championship for number sense and she placed 4th in mathematics.
Congratulations to all the students who participated.
