Nearly a dozen horses died in Fort Worth after a fire started in a large stable Sunday night, fire crews said.
According to fire investigators, 11 horses died after being trapped in the stable in the 3000 block of NW 30th Street.
Firefighters and police rescued eight horses before fire spread to other parts of the stable. Three of the eight horses had visible burn injuries, said Tim Hardeman, public information officer for the Fort Worth Fire Department.
Those three injured included a mare and her foal. The third horse is not expected to survive, Hardeman said in a written statement.
