UPDATE:  United Regional hospital officials say the 11-year-old boy has died from injuries he sustained after a truck hit the horse on which he and an 11-year-old girl were riding.

Authorities say two 11-year-olds are seriously hurt after they were hit by a pick-up Friday afternoon while riding a horse.

It happened around 1 p.m. near the intersection of McFall and Love roads just north of 258.

Troopers say the two were riding the horse southbound on McFall and the driver of a blue Chevy pick- up was northbound when the truck hit the horse.

DPS Spokesman Tony Fulton says the kids were thrown from the horse into a patch of mesquite trees.

Friends of the family say the girl is in critical condition at Cook Children's Hospital in Fort Worth.

The boy attended school in Iowa Park and lived in the Kamay area as does the girl.

The driver of the pick-up says the kids rode their horse out in front of him.

The horse died at the scene.
