2014 Texoma Summer Forecast

The National Weather Service's (NWS) Climate Prediction Center (CPC) has released it's annual Summer forecast for the United States and Texoma.

Here is what the NWSCPC says for Texoma:

Temperatures:  Above to Much Above Normal

Precipitation:  Normal

Overall this forecast has some good news as it could be worse with below normal precipitation but the above normal to much above normal temperatures are of great concern.  Here is why.  With the average high in July around 97-100 degrees across Texoma; high temperatures like that with a breeze will cause more evaporation from the plant life and the soil, as well as the atmosphere.
