2017 Altus AFB Air Show soars over Texoma

The 2017 Altus AFB Air Show and Open House boasted an aerial performance with ten unique displays Saturday morning.

The USAF Thunderbirds were among those scheduled to perform.

Most of the featured acts were currently in active duty service, according to Air Patrol Squadron Commander Douglas Winters.

"This is a great opportunity for the Air Force to showcase what we do for a living," Winters said.

There were also grounded planes on display, such as the Cessna 172 .

Winters said it's sometimes used to survey damage after natural disasters such as tornadoes or hurricanes.
