2017 Teachers Of The Year Announced

Congratulations to Michelle Keller and Jennifer Parker.

Tonight they were named WFISD teachers of the year at the annual banquet.

After 23 years of teaching, Michelle Keller won the honor for elementary teacher of the year.
Keller says she enjoys building unity within the classroom and even has a team name --- The Sensational Second-Grade Frogs.

"I love to see the joy in their faces when you teach them different things. When I come up with activities for them to do, and do it with them, just to see the thrill on their face." Michelle Keller, Milam Elementary

Jennifer Parker was named Secondary Teacher of The Year, and says her role in the classroom is to engage with her students and as for the reason she continues teaching,

"It's the kids. I love the relationship with the kids. That interaction means..means more than anything. That I can share my day with them and they can share their day with me and makes me keep wanting to come back each August."  Jennifer Parker Barwise Middle School

Both Keller and Parker will advance to the regional competition as the WFISD's representatives.
