A 25-year-old woman is dead following a rollover accident that also closed a part of southbound I-44 near Lawton early Friday morning.
The accident happened shortly after two just south of the 11th Street exit. Lawton Police say 25-year-old Jessica Gomez was heading north on the interstate in her Pontiac Grand Prix when she drove off the right side of the road in between the bridges.
Her car rolled a few times, landed under the bridge, and then caught fire. She was pronounced dead at the scene. Oklahoma Department of Transportation officials say the bridge has been inspected and is still structurally sound and intact.
Police are trying to determine what caused Gomez to drive off the road.
Bill Paxton, 61, dies yesterday from complications following surgery.
