The MPEC's air conditioned Exhibit Hall is where many events will take place during the upcoming 4th in the Falls celebration.
From games to magic shows to a quad-bungee jump, it will all be available to allow folks to have a fun and cool 4th of July.
And despite the city nearing Stage 4 emergency drought restrictions, a fireworks show will wrap up the celebration.
"From a patriotic standpoint, everybody loves to do fireworks and have a family celebration on the Fourth of July," says Lindsay Greer, director for the Wichita Falls Convention and Visitor's Bureau.
And that will be the case this year in Wichita Falls.
The city is teaming with Pride in the Falls to host 4th in the Falls.
And while the upcoming event will provide an evening of family-oriented fun inside MPEC it will also end with an illuminating show in the sky.
"We will have the fire department on site and available. We we will have professional fire works folks putting on the show. So they know what they're doing. And honestly, it's probably a safer environment than anybody doing it out at their lake property, out at their land, on back roads. Those kinds of things," Greer explains.
And with water in critical supply this year, fire officials say they hope most people leave the fireworks to the professionals.
"As this dries out that small fire quickly become a medium sized fire or a large fire. Then, that's where we get into the hundreds to thousands of gallons of water," says Capt. Tim Pierson with the Wichita Falls Fire Department.
Water that fire officials say they hope they don't need to use to put out fires caused by fireworks.
When we tap into that fire hydrant we're tapping into your drinking water and your water supply," Capt. Pierson adds.
Fourth in the Falls kicks off at 6 p.m. on Thursday, July 4th at the MPEC.
The fireworks show will begin around 9:15 p.m. behind the MPEC over the Wichita River.
And as always, admission and parking are free.
