Today marks 50 years since a massive tornado ripped through parts of Wichita Falls and Sheppard Air Force Base.

It wasn't the most destructive or deadliest tornado to touch down in the city, but it was the most powerful. The tornado was an F-5, the highest rating on the Fujita Scale.

The 1964 twister hit the north and west side of town killing seven people, injuring more than 100. It destroyed 225 homes and damaged another 250.

In remembrance of this tragic day, Darrell Franklin is going back to the scene of the devastation. Tune in tonight at 6 to see what little trace of that tremendous damage remains today.
