A former Clay County murder case now won't be coming to trial after a plea agreement Tuesday morning.

The defense attorney for 28-year-old Jenna Cherish Dickerson-Price Smith says they accepted a plea agreement for probation on a charge of manslaughter.

He says Dickerson received a 10 year deferred adjudication sentence in the death of her father. He said the district attorney recommended the sentence and the circumstances at the scene and character of the victim were factors in the decision.

When they arrived, deputies reported Dickerson told them her father had been hitting the other woman.

A deputy found 46-year-old John Hamlin dead on the floor of the master bedroom. Investigators say he'd been shot once in the chest with a 22 pistol.

Authorities say Dickerson told them Dickerson was coming toward her and she cocked and pointed a pistol at them, then fired one time.

The case had been set for trial in February.
