The state court in Frankfurt found 22-year-old Arid Uka guilty and sentenced him to life in prison for the attack last March on Afghanistan-bound servicemen as they boarded a bus at the airport.
He is also convicted of attempted murder and serious bodily harm for wounding Edgar Veguilla of Wichita Falls and another airman.
Veguilla was shot four times, but miraculously survived.
Today we spoke with Veguilla's mother who gave us her son's reaction to the verdict.
"He's very happy. He said finally, finally I can sleep. He's been having nightmares and having a real hard time. He was really excited when I talked to him, and like he said, we got him," Maria Soto, Veguilla's mother, says.
Uka will be eligible for parole after 15 years.
Veguilla, who is a Wichita Falls High graduate, has undergone several surgeries and is now working light duty with the air force in England while his recovery continues.
