Allred corrections officers paused this morning to honor fallen comrades.

Dozens watched on as names of 68 officers were read during today's Fallen Officer Memorial.

The ceremony also included the posting of the wreath, the lighting of the candle and the dedication of a plaque, which was donated by Allred staff members.

Although it's been five years since an officer died in the line of duty, Allred officials say it was a close call when two officers were stabbed by several inmates last month.

"It's things like that that bring you back to reality and remind you that this is a dangerous environment and we're just fortunate that we get a day like this remember that," says Warden Richard Wathen.

This was the 15th year Allred has held its fallen officer memorial.
