A man accused in an Altus cold case has a preliminary hearing set for this morning.
Garland Allen is accused of killing his ex-wife Tracy. Courts recently found him competent to stand trial.
Authorities say in December, he led them to the remains of his ex-wife. Officials are investigating the possibility of her being killed in 2001 during an argument in Allen's trailer.
Police say in May 2001, Allen told his mother that Tracy ran away with another man.
Authorities say the couple had a history of domestic disturbances and custody issues over their 2 children, and the couple had divorced the year before Tracy vanished.
After an Altus detective began working with cold justice investigators last year, a warrant was issued for Allen and he was arrested in Wise County.
Authorities say he then led them to a remote area near Tom Steed Reservoir in Kiowa County where he said he had buried his ex wife's body.
After several days of excavation, her remains were found.
