Amarillo Man Arrested For Allegedly Sex Trafficking In Electra

An Amarillo man is jailed in Wichita County for allegedly sex trafficking two teenagers in Electra.

On March 9th, 20-year-old Jirehm Lamarr Curtis Junior was arrested on drug charges following a traffic stop.
Police say... He had three women in the car with him and authorities later discovered that two of the girls were 18 and 17 years of age.

Ashley Wheeler has more on this case and Ashley -- Investigators later found the girls on a website like "craigslist"... that's used to sell sexual services.

The website is called backpage. It's an online source for the solicitation of prostitution.

Electra police came to that conclusion following the arrest of Jirehm Curtis when the women and two other men in the car with them... Were taken to the Electra Inn on Highway 287.

At the same time -- Electra officers discovered that the women gave them false identification during the traffic stop.

When officers got to the motel they reported smelling marijuana and when they questioned again the women gave police their correct information.

Police say they discovered condoms of the same brand in two of the hotel room that they were in.
Authorities say that's common in the commerical sex trade.

The underage girls were taken to Patsy's House in Wichita Falls where they admitted to being on the backpage site, but denied that Curtis and the two other men were involved.

A week later -- a DPS agent got information from Curtis' cell phone which lead them to messages with people regarding pricing, locations and what is allowed sexually during visits with females.
During an interview with investigators a week ago ----  police say Curtis admitted to posting one of the underage girls on backpage and arranging customers to have to sex with her.

However, he said that he knew it was dangerous.. which is why he would be outside with a knife.. when the girl performed sexual acts.

He also told police that he let the girl keep the money, but occasionally took some for himself.

Curtis is facing charges of human trafficking for a person under the age of 18.
His bond is set at more than 100-thousand dollars.

Seventy-nine thousand Texas children under 18 have already fallen into the sex trafficking dangerous network.
