Annual Lights and Ladders is a success

WICHITA FALLS - The community was out in full force showing their support for first responders and Operation Santa Claus at Brookdale Lake Wellington Assisted Living.

The Lights and Ladders Luncheon also honors the sheriff's department, police, firefighters and military personnel.

The public paid $10 for a meal and live entertainment.

All of the money raised goes straight into Operation Santa Claus, a project put on by Wichita Falls Firefighters to help Santa provide toys and bikes to kids at Christmas.

Organizers said the residents love getting involved with the community and interacting with their "heroes."

"A lot of the times they're not able to really leave and do as much as they probably used to," Krystal White, Sales and Marketing Director at Brookdale Lake Wellington, said. "So bringing all of our heroes in and letting them feel like they're really just part of it, and thanking them for everything, is big."

White hopes they can continue this tradition for years to come.
