Archer County sheriff's officials are investigating a homicide in Megargel and are now looking for two persons of interest in the death.
According to Archer County Sheriff's Office Lieutenant Simon Dwyer, the body of 54 year old Megargel resident Billy Jack Stevens, Sr. was found in a yard by a passerby Tuesday around 7:30 a.m.
Dwyer says they do not know the cause of death, and an autopsy is being done, but it appears he had been in a fight.
He said there were no apparent gunshot or knife wounds.
Dwyer says the passerby saw the body in a yard and recognized the man and went to check on him, then called authorities.
Stevens lived on St. Mary's Street, and his body was found about three blocks away in the yard of a home of a friend on 5th Street.
Dwyer says it's too early to say if the two persons of interest could be charged.
