WICHITA FALLS, TX - At least 200 jobs could be coming to Wichita Falls -- after USA 800 representatives announced they are looking to move into the vacant call center on Airport Drive.
USA 800 representatives confirm they are now hiring -- as they look to expand their call center operations to Wichita Falls. The company -- that headquarters out of Raytown, Missouri -- employs 1,300 employee-owners across three Midwest contact centers.
WDS Global closed in August of last year after the 4A Board invested around $3 million in the company and purchased furniture, equipment, fixtures, a fire suppression system and more. In 2010, Wichita Falls City Councilors amended the 4A budget for the WDS project. Since the company left last summer, the owner was either going to discuss purchasing the property with the board, or give the board ten days to get their investments and incentives out of the building, which they say would cost half a million dollars. Instead, the board decided to release the collateral -- or in other words give everything they invested into the building over to the owner -- that move allowed the owner to use the collateral to try and entice a new tenant. The board also said they regained their investment and incentives while WDS was in town.
The city's 4A Board will meet on Friday and discuss an incentive package for the company, and then make a decision. A company representative confirms they will meet with the Economic Development Board to go over possible incentives.
The representative said they hope to have a lease signed within the next week and a half.
