About 15 people showed up for the second round of beer yoga. It’s a new trend that has made its way to Wichita Falls and the people come to it for a very simple reason.
Rheagan Ortega used to lead a beer yoga class in FT Worth and has wanted to start it here for a while and finally got the chance.
“Our whole idea behind doing this is to bring yoga to the community and make it fun and accessible,” Ortega said. “To make people come and feel comfortable and have a good time. To introduce them to Yoga. We felt like it was a really good way to bring light to local businesses downtown and again bringing yoga to the community.”
There is a little more to the beer than people just wanting a drink while doing yoga.
“There actually is a science behind bee yoga,” Ortega said. “They can actually focus on the beer and hopefully block out everything that is going on on the outside. Make that their focal point. Who doesn’t love focusing on beer right?”
The reasons people choose to spend part of their Saturday this way were all pretty similar
“I love yoga and I love beer. It was a great way to come out and enjoy both of these great things that I love and hang out with some fun people,” Jessica Jefferys said.
“I love yoga and I love beer. I mean what’s better than that,” said Molly Letz.
There will be another round of beer yoga in October and Ortega said that one will probably have a theme. Ortega also said there will be other yoga events coming up in addition to beer yoga, there will also be a class that teaches yoga and how to make sushi.
