Boree Gets 10 Years for Burkburnett Shooting

- A Burkburnett man is sentenced to 10 years in prison for shooting another man after a barbecue at his home.

Justin Boree pleaded guilty to three counts of aggravated assault for the December 2012 incident.

During testimony, witnesses say Justin's brother, Christopher, punched one of the victims so hard, he was knocked out.

When that man tried to get up, witnesses say Justin then punched the victim, again knocking him out.

The victim eventually came to, left the scene, and brought a few friends back with him.

According to a recorded interview with police, Justin says he went into his home, grabbed a gun, and fired what he called "a warning shot" to scare the men off his property.

That bullet struck one of the men in the back, exiting his neck.

He underwent surgery and recovered.

Boree had previously been convicted of an aggravated assault charge back in 2006.

Court documents state he beat another man with a gun.

He received five years probation for that crime.
