Bowie West Fest to donate proceeds to children

BOWIE - Bowie residents are preparing to host a good ol' fashioned rodeo with all of the proceeds going to Montague County children in need.

The Bowie West Fest and Rodeo is coming up this weekend.

It's being organized by the owner of the Rack Pub and Eatery and other community members who want to give back to area youth.

"The idea came because I saw a need in the community for our underprivileged children who might need to further their education and not have access to current scholarships from other facilities that's in our area," Founder of Bowie West Fest Tawni Jones said.

The inaugural event kicks off Friday with a youth rodeo event.

Then on Saturday and Sunday, there will be a 13-event pro rodeo plus a concert Saturday night with Steve Bounds & Simply Honkytonk.

Throughout the weekend, there will also be a kids zone with a petting zoo, bounce houses and mechanical bulls.
Everything will happen at the Bowie Community hall on Pelham Street
