The City of Burkburnett is getting closer to have a new water vending station up and running.

An automated bulk water station is being installed at the corner of East 4th Street and North Avenue B.

Last month, the city announced plans to replace the coin-operated system with the automated one.

They say the new system will be more secure and make it tougher for unauthorized residents to drive up and fill up for just a few dollars.

And on Monday, the new water station will be a topic of discussion for city commissioners.

"The council will be reviewing a policy for the water vending machine and we'll be discussing rates and the customers on the machine at that time, as well," says Mike Whaley, Burkburnett city manager.

Officials say the coin-operated system will remain open until the automated system is ready to go online, which officials expect to be sometime next month.
