Burkburnett Putting Aquatic Center On May Ballot
Voters in Burkburnett will be deciding if they want a brand new aquatic center. Tonight, city commissioners voted to put the pool on the ballot so voters could have a say in the matter. According to City Commissioner Josh Andrajack .... engineers say the current pool is using 335,000 gallons a year. They estimate a new pool would roughly use the same amount: between 300,000 to 350,000 gallons a year. If voters decide they want the pool, the old one would go away... and the new one would be built at an estimated cost of 4.5 million dollars. Construction would start in the Fall and be completed by May 1, 2014. Building the pool would potentially bring about 20 jobs to the city. The vote would take place on election day which is May 11th.
