The drought is canceling the annual free splash day at a Wichita Falls park swimming pool.
For the first time, Camp Fire is canceling its annual Splash Day at Harrell Park, which was set for this Saturday.
Officials say with Stage 5 water restrictions in effect, using city water to refill the swimming pool is off limits.
So Camp Fire hired a water hauler to bring in water but officials say that hauler cannot get the water to the pool by this weekend.
to us yet so we know by Saturday this pool is gonna be, just through evaporation, it's gonna be down some, so we don't want to keep promising people they can come for the free Splash," says Bettye Ricks, executive director of Camp Fire.
Ricks hopes to have water hauled in to refill the pool in time for it to open early next month.
