Canadian Man Stopped in Wichita Falls Allegedly Involved in Credit Card Cloning

Authorities say a traffic stop by a DPS trooper leads to the arrest of a Canadian man involved in a credit card cloning scheme. Twenty-five-year-old Sufian Ahmed of Ontario, Canada is charged with possession of a criminal instrument.

An arrest affidavit states in May, a trooper stopped a vehicle for speeding on Highway 287 North. The trooper says Ahmed gave consent to search his vehicle and the trooper found a card writer, about 150 blank bank cards, and about 60 store brand gift cards in a suitcase.

Authorities say they found text messages in Ahmed's phone that indicated he and others were targeting Wells Fargo Bank, Bank of America, and Walmart to commit fraud. The Secret Service is also involved in this investigation. Ahmed has been released from the Wichita County Jail on a $10,000 bond.
