VERNON - The heat is back on and running at Central Elementary in Vernon after the school's boiler broke down earlier this week.
Students were sent to Wilbarger Auditorium on Monday after the boiler went out of order. The district was able to purchase a new one on Tuesday and instal it on Wednesday.
Vernon Independent School District Superintendent Jeff Byrd says they appreciate the community's cooperation, and are making it a life lesson for the students.
"You know, sometimes things aren't going to go as planned and you monitor and adjust and do the best with that you have," Byrd said.
Byrd says their utmost concern was the safety of students and staff, but he's glad things are now operating as normal.
