The way you discuss issues at city council meetings is now changing.

Wichita Falls councilors voted today on using an amended version of the San Antonio rules.

The original resolution gave those for and against an issue each 30 minutes to discuss and gives each individual speaker five minutes, allowing for five to six speakers on each side.

After some debate between the councilors and a few comments from the public, councilors voted to separate speakers into groups of "for and against" an issue, giving each speaker five minutes. But they voted to remove the thirty minute time limit, opening the door for unlimited discussion as long as each speaker is limited to five minutes.

Mayor Glenn Barham says he will still be able to extend a speaker's time if necessary.

And Atmos gas residential customers will see a small increase on their bill starting November first.

Councilors approved a negotiated resolution between Atmos and 164 cities that outlines the increase.

Customer's consumption charge is going up by almost two percent, resulting in an increase of 0.74 a month on the average bill.
