After over thirty years of service in Clay County, Justice of the Peace Jim Humphrey is retiring.

Friday was his last day with the county.
His co-workers threw him a party to mark the occasion and give him the opportunity to tell them goodbye.

City workers and residents also dropped in to wish him well.

Humphrey said he really enjoyed his years with the county and appreciates the time he was allowed to serve, but it's time to move on.

I'm excited, a new adventure opening up, but I'm sad also because I've devoted my life here and it's hard leaving, it's a dual edge sword but I'm looking forward.

Humphrey says he will spend his retirement traveling with his wife and running a few head of cattle
