Clear the Shelters: Humane Society of Wichita County

WICHITA FALLS - NBC has partnered up with hundreds of shelters across the country for the massive pet drive on Sat. Aug. 19, 2017.

The goal is to give all shelter animals a forever home, last year, more than 82,000 animals were adopted nationwide and 111 were adopted in Texoma.

Shelters like the Humane Society of Wichita County do everything they can to get their purring and barking friends into the arms of forever families, currently the shelter has 62 dogs and 18 cats that are available for adoption, but while puppies and kittens are all the craze, it's the older pets that need good homes too.

"We have a really good success rate with our senior dogs," Cheryl Miller, director of the Human Society of Wichita Falls, said. "Not everyone is looking for a puppy some people just want a travel companion, and your senior dogs will fit that bill nicely and some of them are already house broke and they're already set in their ways and they have good habits and aren't chewers, so we do really well with senior dogs.

On Saturday the Humane Society will also have bouncy houses and food and drinks for guests starting at 11 a.m.
