The man accused of the continuous sexual abuse of a young girl took the witness stand in his own trial Thursday afternoon.

While Antonio Leija Jr. was on the witness stand, he continually denied inappropriately touching the alleged victim.

Leija is charged with multiple counts of aggravated sexual assault of a child.

He told jurors that he acted as a father figure to the alleged victim and her family.

He also admitted to having been in a sexual relationship with the girl's mother.

Leija said that relationship started in 2002 or 2003 and continued through 2006.

According to Wichita Falls police records, the alleged victim, who's now 21-years-old, claims Leija assaulted her starting in Fall 2003 until Spring 2006.

Earlier in Thursday's testimony, WFPD Detective Raymond Perry testified the alleged victim called in to a CPS hotline to report she had been sexually assaulted when she was younger.

She reportedly said she was now in college and ready to deal with what happened to her as a child.

According to Perry's report, she claimed Leija touched her inappropriately and forced her to participate in sexual acts.

The defendant's counsel has filed applications for the jury to select punishment if found guilty and has also filed an application for community supervision if found guilty because he's never been convicted of a felony in the State of Texas or any other state.

Closing arguments begin tomorrow morning in the 78th District Court.
