At Tuesday’s city council meeting councilors will be voting on a resolution that will execute an agreement between the city, the Wichita County Water Improvement District, and American Electric Power to start cloud seeding.
The contract will be for six months starting march first with Seeding Operations and Atmospheric Research, or SOAR.
The maximum cost will be $300,000 a year but the estimated cost is $50,000 a month.
The cost will include a full time meteorologist to monitor weather conditions, an airplane equipped for cloud seeding, and a pilot.
The target area is King, Cottle, Foard, Knox, Baylor, Archer and Wichita counties.
Also at Tuesday's meeting councilors will vote on giving the Lake Wichita Study Committee 55 hundred dollars to pay a consultant firm that will help them refine their pitch to the Corp of Engineers.
Their two phase plan includes dredging the lake and building restaurants and retail centers around it.
