Commissioners put demolition bid out for properties in flood zone

WICHITA FALLS - Wichita county is still dealing with issues from the floods back in 2015 and today they took action to remove two more properties from the flood zone.

Commissioners court passed a motion to re-advertise for bids on demolition of two homes, one in the Wranglers Retreat neighborhood and one on Miriam Lane.

Officials said they didn't get any bids the first time because no companies wanted to deal with asbestos removal.

Wichita County Judge Woody Gossom said once the bids for the demolitions, which are due October 30, are complete, they can then buy the property, have the work done, and take it out of the escrow account that was put away for that purpose.
