Construction Begins on Whispers of Hope Barn

Horses that provide therapeutic riding through a Texoma non-profit to physically and mentally challenged children and wounded warriors will soon have a new home.

Crews are putting up the framework for a new barn at Whispers of Hope Horse Farm.

It's the first of a three phase project which is estimated to cost close to $300,000 total.

The finished product will include a 20 stall barn with a medicine and hay room and an office nearby.

Non-profit officials say the renovations will make their programs run more efficiently.

Currently it takes us three times longer to get a horse ready to get things from so many other places and this will be so much safer for our horses but also for our children,” said Mary Elizabeth Pearce, the Executive Director of Whispers of hope.

She says those kids who seek their services will get to take part in the feeding and maintaining of their horses in the new facility.

The entire project is scheduled to be complete in June, just before their summer camps begin.
